Violence
Every time I turn on the news there is always someone dieing or hurt or in a bad situation. Violence of any kind is not okay. Close to where I live a police officer was arrested for domestic disturbance. He had been abusing his wife for awhile. It is all just so sad. A police officer with a lot of authority was actually a coward because he hit his wife. If things get that bad one of the two should have just walked away and said enough is enough. Being in a abusive relationship physically or emotionally isn't good for anyone. I must say that trying to end one is very difficult. The violence at schools are even growing. If the students spent half the energy they do fighting each other. We would have a large graduating class from every high school because everyone would be passing. The children should spend their time learning not causing conflicts. Also people forget their is emotionally abuse too. It ranges from a spouse to a family member or anyone really who means you no good. There are several counseling centers around the Memphis area that can help anyone willing to go for help. There is violence outside of Memphis. It is everywhere and it needs to stop now. Children early on are learning behaviors of violence from their parents. The behavior is learned and passed from generation to generation. I think that most are scared to get help because they fear for their life. It is all just sad to hear of people who can't control their tempers in order to get along. The madness needs to end before everyone is locked up and no one is out living their life.

This is so true children see their parents arguing and grow up thinking that it is the way to solve problems and it is okay to tolerate it. It also shows that a lot of people get married for the wrong reasons and grow up to be those parents. I think humans naturally are scared of change no matter what it may be. Taking the leap to try and escape a relationship is a big step and if people are too scared to walk away from a conflict it can escalate and in the end it will just be worse. Walking away doesn't mean that you're a coward or scared just that you see no use in wasting your time arguing.

I wonder if we turn to violence when we do not know how to use our words. Certainly, words can be violent and can spark violence. However, when I think of the fights I have seen in schools, it is often because the emotions of the children have been so repressed that their bodies fight back. Our fight or flight responses. In fact, my soul feels so sad and heavy sometimes when I think about the violence that children encounter in their homes.

Violence is not the way to get people to see things the same way that you do. Back home, a friend of mine was a walking home at about 9pm from the neighborhood park. The area that I live in is a very nice area; most of the people are middle-aged with older children. There is actually never really a problem in my neighborhood, but when my friend was a block away from home he was approached by 2 young men. They demanded his cellphone and wallet. When he refused, they began to hit him. When he tried to fight back, they shot him once in the back and once in the leg. They barely missed his spine. It is that kind of senseless violence that makes me wonder how we can fix the problem. Violence should be acceptable because hitting another human being is inhumane.
ReplyDeleteIt's ridic and sad. I believe a lot of it comes from home. How and where you were raised. If a child is exposed to it in their home, they will become use to it. If all parents play a good model (because children feed off what they are exposed to) the violence should go down. I doubt there is a way to fix the problem because we have no control over someones household or what someone is being exposed to at home. However, better consequences could be applied
ReplyDeletei totally agree with you. Children's behavior is learned from what they see in their homes. Violence in memphis is getting a little put of hand and i dont know why it is so bad here. There has to be a solution to decrease it becuause it seems like it is only getting worse....
